About Ginny

When I was younger I didn't enjoy reading. There were not any stories that pulled me in enough for me to truly enjoy the story to its fullest. Then I finally found one that pulled me in, a fantastical medieval story with animals for characters.

I did write, but it was not much at all. I did not have a spark for writing. I did not have the dream of becoming a published author. I had not even considered it! I wrote and illustrated comics but all of them were left unfinished. I did, however; attempt a longer piece, which I was very proud of then, but I still left it unfinished.

For years I never wrote.

Then in 2023 when I was fourteen my family went to a homeschool convention and I was able to meet my favorite author. It was there, at that convention that I also joined The Young Writers Workshop, which is an online writing community for young writers. I never had thought that it would have the impact on me that it has had. I made (and making!) writing friends and learned (and learning!) so much.

At this point, I had really no background of writing at all and it did not really make sense that I joined, but I believe God was in that decision.

I started to dream that maybe I could do this as a career, but it was more of a question. I wondered if this was something I could actually do.

For almost three years I worked on a single story but I did not make it very far past 15k words. At times, writing felt like a chore instead of what I had hoped would be something I would enjoy.

In 2025 The Young Writers Workshop had a event where we would try to write 30k in the month of October.

I took on the challenge.

I dropped my story idea I had been working on and started a completely different story.

That October I successfully wrote 30k in my new story idea. That was a massive achievement for me and one that spurred on my hope that I maybe could become an author.

I finally have found the enjoyment in writing that I had wanted, dreamed of.

Since then I have been taking writing more seriously with a career in mind as an author.

I dream to become an author and I'm taking steps and working hard to make it a reality. I'm not just imagining it as a world I can never reach.

My Writing Journey

Seventeen years old and the eldest of four, Ginny is a Christian and an aspiring young author. She resides in Michigan with her family and cat. Outside of writing, Ginny enjoys playing her many instruments and drawing.

In April 2023 I joined The Young Writers Workshop which is an online writing community for young writers.

For about two years I worked on a single story and wrote 15k in it, but dropped the project late 2025.

In October 2025 I wrote 30k in a new story for an event in The Young Writers Workshop.

In January 2026 I finished the rough draft of my story I had started in October.
